Today, some 370 members consisting of legally independent, medium-sized enterprises in the specialist and retail trade are part of the cooperation. The hagebau group ranks 110 in the Top 500 firms in Germany. Its network of 1,700 stores in 8 European countries (Germany, Austria, Luxemburg, Switzerland, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain) makes it one of the most important actors in Europe.

In almost 600 stores across Germany, Austria and Luxemburg, it caters to the brands hagebaumarkt (DIY stores), WERKERS WELT (small specialised stores) and FLORALAND (garden centres). With a turnover of €2.69 billion in gross sales (2017), hagebau retail ranks among the industry top 4 in Germany.

With hagebaumarkt, hagebau retail has developed a modern system of goods and services for the exploitation of stores combining DIY stores and garden centres. A common visual identity on the market, a joint organisation as well as a standardized management of goods and product ranges are the pillars of the franchised system.

 

WERKERS WELT

The specialist small-store concept WERKERS WELT covers local requests both in urban and rural areas. Close to 80% of final customers are from retail trade and 20% are from wholesale. Hardware, tools, work security, door fitting, home security and surveillance, bathroom, paint, garden, electrical and light bulbs are among the most important ranges. With WERKERS WELT, hagebau retail is leader in Germany.

 

FLORALAND

FLORALAND is a modular garden-centre concept organised around six main themes: pet, garden furniture, garden power tools, wood, arts and crafts and plants.

1964

Establishment of hagebau Soltau (Handelsgesellschaft für Baustoffe mbH & Co. KG)

1979

The opening of the first hagebaumarkt store marked the successful entry of hagebau in the DIY sector

1995

hagebau starts operating in Austria. At the beginning of the 1990's hagebau created the first specialization modules for the wholesale commerce.

2000

Together with Groupement des Mousquetaires, hagebau created the international Alliance A.R.E.N.A.

2007

The hagebaumarkt stores expand into online trading – with a 300-plus page "hagebau direkt" catalogue, and an online shop at www.hagebau.de. The move into this new business area is made possible thanks to baumarkt direkt GmbH & Co. KG, in which hagebau has had a stake since March 1st, 2007.

2008

The website www.hagebau.de wins the "2008 online shop of the year" award

2013

The specialist small-store concept is named "WERKERS WELT"

2014

The company celebrates an important anniversary : hagebau turns 50!

hagebaumarkt celebrates its 35th anniversary!

2015

For the first time, Spanish partners join hagebau.
